In May this year, Claire Gallacher, a member of the DLGS cohort 2021, had the opportunity to visit Arizona State University and participate in the International Congress of Biometeorology.
Recently DLGS had the opportunity to organise an alumni event against the backdrop of a talk by Jose Mercado, DLGS alumni and Senior expert, sustainable construction at Germany Energy Agency (DENA) about non academic career pathways.
In February, Subhashree Nath of DLGS 2021 cohort, had the opportunity to attend a comprehensive four-day training workshop organized by the Center for Science and Environment (CSE) in Delhi. The workshop, titled "Climate Resilience Cities: An Integrated Planning and Design Approach," provided essential insights into various drivers of heat gains in different urban morphologies, as well as potential heat sources and sinks.
Congratulations to Jiyoon Song (DLGS Scholarship holder 2019-2022) for successfully defending her PhD dissertation at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, TU Dresden.
In the list of PhD defense at DLGS, another addition was made last week, where Fahim Nawaz successfully defended his dissertation at the Faculty of Business and Economics, TUD.
Pleased to announce that Fred Nkubito successfully defended his PhD dissertation titled: "Low-income tenants’ housing accessibility and affordable housing provision barriers. The case of Kigali, Rwanda." at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, TUD.
In October, DLGS was proud to host a short meet-up between DLGS alumni and the current candidates in Dresden. The highlight of the event was the presentation on "areer pathways post PhD" given by Lita Akmentina, who was a scholarship holder at DLGS between 2012 and 2015, and is currently a Post-doctoral researcher at Riga Technical University, Latvia.
Recently Mengfan Jiang (DLGS scholarship holder 2018-2021) successfully defended her PhD dissertation at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, TU Dresden.
